Sunshine warms fluttering leaves
Red, yellow, brown, and green
The rush of the wind is no longer warm
Yet will always sing its meditative tune.
Grey clouds roll along
Bits of blue sky peek through
The sun tries its best to keep warm
Even though night pushes for preeminence
Walks are becoming mud-filled,
Heavy and wet.
Slip off cotton shirts and sandals,
Layer cashmere and wool.
When bitter cold and darkness close in,
One's soul can feel tight and alone.
Be like the grey clouds that roll along,
Knowing rain is soon followed by sunshine.
