The textbooks and lectures wait while autumn leaves are falling,

Studying is a smart investment of time and money,

But cozy worlds of fiction and wanting to write stories keep on calling.

Crisp and golden weather is luring me outside, appealing,

Yet the strategy case demands focus, sharp and dense,

Even as the restless itch of creativity is stealing.

To build a secure future, this degree is quite enthralling,

To become a successful writer, one must make money,

Yet the characters inside my head are softly brawling.

Cold but sunny mornings make the classroom feel appalling,

Though the practical frameworks and lessons still make sense,

And wisdom from the spreadsheets leaves my day enthralling.

Still, the autumn breeze outside my window keeps recalling,

That the chapters of my novel are waiting in suspense,
